St. Barbara Orthodox Monastery is a women's monastic community of the Diocese of the West of the Orthodox Church in America, under the omophorion of His Eminence, Archbishop BENJAMIN. The Monastery was founded in 1992 and has been located in Santa Paula, California, since late 2005.
We strive daily to live out the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ in community, seeking to love God and neighbor through prayer, hospitality and labor.

CANCELLATION OF FRIENDS GATHERING
At this time, St. Barbara Monastery is in no particular danger from fire.
However, due to the fires burning in Southern California, the predicted weather conditions and the power outage announced for our area, the Monastery has cancelled the October Friends' Gathering scheduled for October 27, 2019.
Please help us spread the word about this cancellation.
***October 22, 2019 This upcoming Sunday's Friends of the Monastery Gathering will feature a 4pm talk entitled Working Out Our Salvation Together: Practical Strategies for Strengthening Relationships by Xenia Enke. Please bring your favorite dish to share at the potluck following Vespers. Our current newsletter is available here.
***September 25, 2019 Read the September edition of the monastery newsletter here. The Friends of the Monastery Gathering will be held this Sunday, Sept. 29. Fr Michael Laffoon will be giving a presentation at 4 pm entitled The Orthodox Veneration of the Saints. Vespers and potluck to follow. Please bring a main or side dish, salad or dessert to share.

The presentation begins at 4pm is entitled At Home in a Foreign Land: A Year of Monastic Pilgrimage. 5pm Vespers and 6pm potluck to follow. Please bring a dish to share.
