The Orthodox Church offers to us a tremendous amount of teaching that is hidden and preserved in its liturgies; in its understanding of the Bible, as handed down by the Holy Fathers, and in its traditions. The beauty of it is that we don't have to be scholars to understand all this. Our Lord deliberately showed us, through His apostles, that even simple fishermen can grasp these things and teach them. And the Holy Spirit within the Church continues to teach by the arrangements of readings in fasts and feasts, and in daily guidance and commemorations. So we need to become aware of this wonderful "Treasury of Blessings" handed down to us in order to make proper use of it for our salvation and for the spiritual health of our children. And we can better preserve what we have, if we all - young and old - learn its importance in our lives.
