The day begins with the service of Matins...

Mother Nina lights the lamps.
Mother Victoria directs the choir.
We view the sun breaking over the hills each morning during Matins.

After Matins and breakfast, we each tackle various tasks...

Sister Mary waters the garden.
Mother Seraphima works on an icon.
Fr Lawrence builds an owl house from scratch.
Mother Juliana fixes a salad.
And sets the tables for lunch.

At 12:15pm, we pause for Sixth Hour, a memorial service, and lunch before resuming our labors...

Mother Anna and Mother Juliana retrieve the mail at 2pm sharp!
We welcome the opportunity to show hospitality to visitors throughout the day.
Mother Melania teaches students from St. John of Damascus Academy when they visit.
Sr Thekla works on the grounds.
Paraskeva, supervised by Punkin, fills online honey orders.
Punkin works hard patrolling for gophers...
...then catches an afternoon snooze by the coffee pot!

We gather again as a community for Vespers at 5:30pm...

Mother Melania prepares the service texts.
Grete directs Sr Brigid and Paraskeva in singing the aposticha.

And share our evening meal together before ending the day with Compline.

As dusk falls, our monastery's creekside critters begin their chorus into the night...
